Neuschwanstein
Castle Tour
Having met up at Munich Hauptbahnhopf on the morning of the
tour, we'll leave the city behind and head to the south of Bavaria by bus or by
train, depending on the season. During the two hour trip, the professional
English-speaking guide will keep us entertained with fascinating facts about
the region.
Not only will we get to see Neuschwanstein Castle itself,
we'll also have the opportunity to admire the nearby Hohenschwangau Castle.
Less well known than its neighbour but equally beautiful, it was the childhood
home of Ludwig II of Bavaria, the creator of Neuschwanstein. We'll hear all
about this historic figure, who was better known by his nickname - the Mad
King, as we admire the legendary castle that inspired Walt Disney's own
fairytale palace.
The tour will take you to the best viewpoints to admire
Newschwanstein's magnificent architecture, like the Marienbrücke, a bridge that
offers spectacular photo opportunities of the Bavarian landscapes from its 98
feet (30 metres) in height. If there's time and the weather is good, we can
also stroll down to the lake in the castle's grounds and take a dip, or enjoy a
leisurely stroll through the countryside. We'll also make a stop for you to
have food and drinks.
You'll have the choice to enter Neuschwanstein Castle to see
its majestic interior decoration: while tickets aren't included, you won't have
to wait in line. The castle is a short uphill walk from the car park, or you
can choose to get there by horse-drawn carriage or bus instead.
After an unforgettable nine
hours discovering German history and architecture, we'll head back to Munich
where the tour will end.
