Immerse yourself in Thailand's rich cultural, historical and
architectural heritage on this day trip to the ancient capital city: Ayutthaya.
Explore beautiful temple ruins and majestic palaces and enjoy a tranquil boat
cruise on the Chao Phraya River.
After meeting your guide in central Bangkok first thing in
the morning, you'll embark on your unforgettable day trip to one of Thailand's
must-see historic sites. Climb on board your luxury air-conditioned bus, and
head in the direction of Ayutthaya province.
Before reaching the ancient city itself, you'll make a stop
at the Bang Pa-In Summer Palace. The former royal residence, this magnificent
riverside palace complex is a breath-taking fusion of Thai, Chinese and Gothic
architectural styles.
Continuing on your route, you'll reach Ayutthaya, a UNESCO
World Heritage Site and the former capital of Thailand, or Siam as it was
historically known, until Bangkok was founded in 1767. Visit the spectacular ruins
of Wat Mahathat, which was the royal monastery; discover Wat Phra Sri Sanphet,
the largest and most beautiful within the Ayutthaya Royal Palace compound; and
admire the massive bronze Buddha enshrined within the Vihara Phra Mongkhon
Bophit temple.
In the afternoon, you'll leave the dry land of this magical
ancient city behind and set sail on the Chao Phraya River from the nearby Wat
Chong Lom. As you cruise along this important Thai waterway, you'll be able to
indulge in a delicious buffet lunch with the best of both local delicacies and
international cuisine.
Take in the wonderful views
of Thailand's Nonthaburi Province on your boat trip: from Koh Kret, the river
island home to the Mon community, to the Thammasat University in Bangkok city
center. Finally, as you enjoy coffee on board, you'll see the Grand Palace and
Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, before shortly arriving back at the River City
Shopping Mall Pier for around 4 pm.
