Singapore: the garden city

Singapore with its marvelous and outstanding features projects itself as a hub of tourism. The varied traditions, cuisines, and architecture of Singapore give it a significant preference, when it comes to selection between countries for a trip!

Singapore has several gardens and hubs that give it a special place to be one of the greenest countries. It has numerous national parks, sanctuaries, reserves, and natural hubs. The activities that are present at these sites also add-on to the wonderful experience that tourists enjoy when they are in Singapore! It is perfectly known as the garden city.

1. MachRitchie Reservoir

It is popular for its macaque population and huge monitor lizards which are frightening. It is a beautiful park with many hiking trails and amazing scenic views from the treetops. MachRitchie is known as the oldest reservoir of Singapore and has become, in some years, as the natural center for wildlife and a place of visit for tourists and locals. MachRitchie is also popular for the suspension bridge which connects the two extreme points of this place. It is also famous for the lake reservoir which is beautiful and offers a calm place to just sit and relinquish the beauty of nature. 

2. Southern Ridges

It has a long jungle track which connects it to the Mount Faber Park. It is well known for the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore which is located inside this place and provides an exciting sight to of the place to the visitors. The place is full of bulbuls, cuckoos, flowerpeckers and parrots. The Southern Ridges is another example of a natural marvel which stands as an epitome. The another track connects it to the Labrador Nature Reserve. This place is rich in many other species of plants and animals which makes it a diversity hub. 

3. Bukit Timah Nature Reserve

The most amazing thing about this forest is that it is the place which is free from any poaching or illegal activities which makes it more natural and perhaps diverse. This is an another amazing place which has Singapore’s highest peak called the Bukit Timah Natural Hill. It has a dense canopy with a plethora of animals such as the lemurs, pythons, pangolins and so on. Thus, it is worth admiring!

4. Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

It is full of beautiful flora and fauna. The plethors of insects that are found here are: lobsters, mudskippers, moths and so on. The saltwater crocodile is an exotic species of this place and is revered to as the most captivating sight of this area by the visitors.

This reserve is blessed with a rich biodiversity and a different rustic charm. This wetland reserve is known for the various native birds that are found here especially the long-legges Asian dowitcher and Pacific golden plover. 

5. Palau Ubin

The place is also full of edible items such as the durians which are ripe and perfect for anyone who is missing out snacks and wishes to have a belly full natural meal. This place is famous for the diversity of birds, mangroves and cycle treks. You may find a chirping bulbul and if you’re lucky enough, you may spot a kingfisher busy diving for its meal into the lake. The famous Chek Jawa Wetlands is a place worth visit is you have entered Palau Ubin. 

6. Singapore Botanic Garden

The garden is spread over an area of 200-acres and presents itself as a beautiful plethora of aromatic plants with a special mention of the Ginger Garden The Singapore Botanic Garden is an UNESCO World Heritage site that is best known for floral preservation centers. The entry to this garden is free but the National Orchid Garden which is the center of attraction for the visitors has a puny amount. Never miss the Ginger Garden too, as its aroma awaits you!

7. Lazarus Island

It is famous for its scenic beauty and snorkeling facilities which give it an advantage over other beaches. The Lazarus Island is one of the most exciting place which everyone who visits Singapore desires to relinquish. It is embellished with white sands, palm trees and turquoise coloured waters which captivates the visitors eyes and lands them onto the shore. 

8. Gardens by the Bay

It is a beautiful garden built on reclaimed land and has unique floral designs with outstanding planning of trees and plants. Gardens by the Bay is a unique marvel and is extinguishingly beautiful. The garden in a collection of mindblowing flowers such as orchids, ferns and vines. It has a waterfall which is endowed with crystal clear water that adds to the beauty of this place. It is articulated with a Flower Dome, that has beautiful flowers, making the atmosphere beautiful with perfect scents and a soft music in the background.
